Kislev – First Fruit Celebration

This week the congregation at GZI celebrated First Fruits and the Hebrew month of Kislev. This new month of Kislev is the month that we enter the beginning of Hanukkah, an eight-day celebration that commemorates the rededication of the Temple. During the Feast we celebrate that the oil and light never go out! This is also a month of dreams, as well as the month linked with the tribe of Benjamin.

We give thanks for the bountiful blessings we receive every day of the month from the Lord.DSC01185

In this month of celebration don’t forget it is also a season of thanks. Give thanks unto the Lord for He is good.

I’m Thankful “God Rules”

A sign was given to me with two words that describe exactly what I’m most thankful about.

The sign says “God Rules”.

I say “Amen” to that.

God Rules in every area of my life.

When I awake in the morning He is there. He gives me direction for the day. He answers questions I had the night before but fell asleep before I could receive the answer. God reminds me of things I forget. My needs are supplied by Him and also gives me gifts and surprises.

I’m not only thankful but I’m grateful because He is the only steady stream in my life. I give praises to Him for who He is.

What are you thankful for in this month of thanksgiving?

Zoo – The Last Gathering A to Z Challenge

A memorable time for me and three of my grandchildren before I moved to another state was going to the zoo’s light show.

Every year the Zoo is decorated with millions of beautiful lights and hosts various festivities to celebrate the holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I decided to take my grandchildren for an enjoyable time. It was our first time at this event. In spite of the cold we had a wonderful time. No one complained. It was a surreal time. When I think about that day I can still feel the peace and calm that we experienced on our adventure.

We made our way through the zoo enjoying the light show and the animals. I also took pictures to remember the outing but they didn’t come out well because it was night. In spite of the pictures not turning out I have a picture in my heart that will last a lifetime.

Do you have any memorable times hidden in your heart?
