X is for X-ray

I was walking down the hall to my bedroom earlier this month. I heard a noise behind me.

I heard a raspy breathing sound with every step I took. When I stopped walking the breathing sound stopped. I thought I was in a horror movie and the creature was about to take me out.

As I took another step I realized that raspy breathing was coming from me. It became funny once the fear left. My starring role in the horror movie was over before it started.

Every inch of my face hurt along with both ears aching. The muscles in my neck and chest got a workout because with every breath I coughed, coughed and coughed some more.

Another fear set in. I thought I might have pneumonia-never had that before. I made a trip to the doctor to get an x-ray. The doctor didn’t give me the x-ray I went for because the diagnosis was a sinus infection and bronchitis.

It didn’t end there. The medicine was complete but the rattling cough remained. Back to the doctor I went. This time an x-ray was taken.

The x-ray showed no signs of pneumonia and all was clear. Yeah me.

I’m well on the road to recover. The x-ray gave me a peace of mind.

Quality, Quiet Time

Busyness is a robber most time. It takes away from a chance to sit and reflect or read a good book or be quiet and hear from The Lord.

I feel each of these are an important process in my life. I’m not a robot that can keep going until my energizer batteries run out. I need to reflect on things going on in my life-the good, bad and ugly. Those things need to be sorted out so corrections can be implemented or maybe some things eliminated. Rest is another important factor. A tired mind is a terrible mind and sound decisions can’t be made.

Quiet time is when I shut down everything and just be. In that time of quietness is when I can hear The Lord clearly. I can get clarity in the. Direction I need to go.

Quality time is when I take care of things that are important to my well-being. A relaxing massage. Eases then tension and brings repair to my body. Getting a manicure and pedicure makes my fingers and toes beautiful artwork to gaze at and smile.

I’m selfish with my quality, quiet because it makes a more together me.

BEEF – WHERE’S THE BEEF A-Z Challenge B

Every once in a while a great tasting piece of beef is on the menu at my home. Some days it might be a juicy steak or maybe a slow cooked brisket. It could be a nice roast.

For a while now there has been a conversation about how bad the beef is. I’ve heard about the inhuman way they treat the cattle while raising them and slaughtering them.

There is a saying that we are what they (animals) eat. So my guess is we can be affected when they are shot up with antibiotics and hormones. The way the animals are slaughtered affects the meat also.

This makes me nervous when I go to the store to buy meat. What exactly am I getting?

A change came to my home. I now buy directly from farmers that raise grass-fed cattle and feed them no grain at all. I like the taste of the beef I buy from the farmer. It is healthier for me. Some of the issues I use to have I no longer experience because the cattle are not all shot up with antibiotics and hormones.

Some people complain about the cost of the beef. I personally think the price is comparable to buying beef from the store. I heard someone say pay farmers now or pay hospitals later. That’s one way to look at it.

For me at this time in my life I will spend what it takes to get me a good pierce of beef.

So Where’s The Beef?

The Farmer’s Market. I’m going this weekend.

An Avocado A Day – Day 1 A2Z Blog Challenge

I was an adult when I first encountered an avocado. My first experience was not a good one. It tasted bland and didn’t feel right on my tongue. That ended as quickly as it started.

Quite a while after that experience I tasted guacamole. I was in love. All the ingredients were perfectly combined and tasted wonderful. Love met me on my plate.

I found out that avocados are good for us. They have nutrients that our bodies need. I decided to try them in different ways. They are good in salads, with scrambled eggs and on hamburgers. I added a half of one when I made a smoothie. It helped make the smoothie extra smooth. Since the taste is not overbearing, it didn’t add to or take away from the smoothies taste but added needed nutrients.

I saw a recipe for hummus that had avocados added to it. I’m going to make that recipe. It’s a healthy recipe and that’s a good thing. I’m sure there are many ways to eat avocado and I’m going to find them.

If you’ve never had an avocado, try them. Tasting bland is a good thing because you can season it the way you want. If you’re into healthy eating, you can add this to your meal-planning list.

Do you eat avocado? How do you like yours?

Yesterday

Yesterday is in the past

What happened then is gone forever

Nothing can be done

No matter how clever

That can bring it back

To clean up the track

Of mess that was made

The wrong words said

That shouldn’t have been heard

Things that shouldn’t have been seen

Yesterday is gone

Today is here

Watch carefully

What is said and done

So when tomorrow comes

And today is gone

There won’t be a concern

About what went wrong
