Dream Big Day 7

These seven days of dreaming big about my new home has opened my eyes to how daunting the task could be. I believe it will be a lot of excitement and fun. The best part will be moving in and living the dream. I get to use all my dishes and everything that have been packed away for a while. I get to entertain because I’ll have plenty of room to invite friends over.

Since I want a custom home there will be a lot of involvement on my part. This will be a labor of love. I believe I’ll be able to walk through every room of my home and be satisfied knowing each one will be utilized to its fullest capacity. No wasted space. No unused rooms collecting dust. No adding rooms hoping relatives will show up and at the end of the day they never visit.

I need to get started creating a vision board of everything I want. That will help me keep my dream before me with everything I think I might want and encourage me.

A peaceful place that draws and comfort folk from the cares and heavy burdens of this world is what I’m aiming for.

That’s the kind of home I’m going to have.

Dream Big Day 6

Once this beautiful home is complete every room inside has to be to shine like the construction outside.

I alone can only do my precious home a disservice. With that said an interior designer is what I need to assist me throughout the whole project—not just putting on the finishing touches.

There are many decisions to be made from the beginning before ground is broken to the final furnishing put in place. I look through many magazines for ideas and thinking about making a vision board to keep everything together.

First and foremost I’ve got to have the perfect place for my Baby Grand Piano. Then we can work the rest of the room around its placement. In that placement I must have a place for a fish tank-a beautiful colorful home for fish that replicates the depths of the seas.

I don’t want cookie cutter furnishings. I have antique furnishings from my grandmother and some I purchased that have to be utilized. I found dining chairs I want to purchase but the jury’s still out about a new table. I have my grandmother’s table but not sure if I want to use it. If I do use it will have to change the finish to another color other than brown or black. I haven’t found a table I like enough to purchase so I still have time to decide.

The rest of my home will evolve. I won’t be in a hurry to get every room completed at once. Listening to what it’s saying is important.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Dream Big Day 5

I have a lot of ideas and desires for my big dream. There is one problem and that is I need someone with expertise to put it all together on paper where it makes sense. An Architect could do that for me. One that listens well and executes what I tell them I want. I’m going to pick something like a faucet, sink I want in the house and have the architect build around it—just like a commercial that use to be on television. It would be fun to see that actually happen. I want someone who can relate where I’m coming from and can see and understand the method to my madness and be an asset to my project.

Who finds the builder? Is it the architect or I? If it’s me how do I choose a good builder? I don’t know how to pick builders or contractors either. Maybe the Architect can give me recommendations. I’ll be sure to check all the people who will be building my home. There are probably a lot of Architects and builders in the vicinity of where I presently live.

When I finish interviewing potential candidates to build my home I will have the right team. They will put together the most magnificent home that was ever built.

DREAM BIG DAY 4

Mortar oozing out from between the bricks gives a house the old world look. Some stone could be added for contrast. Distressed shutters dress the windows in an old world color to compliment the mortar. A front door that makes you think you are entering a castle will add to that look. This looks great on a two-story house but how will it look on a ranch house?

The garage should be entered from either side or the back. A three-car garage would be great so I can have enough space for an atv/ golf cart to drive around my ranch.

Plenty of windows will open the house to natural light. I’m like God when He said light be. I love light. Skylights can also add natural light.

The house needs to face north or south. If you’d ask me why I couldn’t tell you. That’s just what I decided years ago and both of my other homes were situated on the land that way.

This home needs a little more than the run of the mill driveway. A straight concrete drive will not work. A brick circular drive will set the house off. With the circular brick drive the sidewalk needs to be brick also.

I can see my big dream coming together. Maybe the look I described doesn’t all go together. I’m for starting a new trend.

I’m sure there are a lot more details that would come to mind as I dream more.

DREAM BIG-THE BEGINNING

While shopping one day I saw a journal titled Dream Big and I knew I needed to buy it. Dreaming Big is something I always want to do.

I got my Dream Big journal and sat down to write about my dreams when I discovered something. How can I dream big when I don’t know exactly what I want? I put the journal down and went on to something else.

Today while cleaning up a mess on my patio floor I started dreaming about having a bigger patio. If I’m going to dream about a bigger patio it needs to be attached to something—like a big home—my dream home. Thus starts my Dream Big dream home I dream about building. I want to share snippets as I gather my thoughts about this great endeavor that is subject to change many times before the final outcome.

My Big Dream today is a big patio. I need a big patio because I want to live on it when the weather’s not too hot or cold. It would be as a single multipurpose room. Part of the patio will have an outdoor kitchen with a dining table and a living room area. A fireplace or fire pit and a television have to be included. A couple of ceiling fans will create a nice breeze. It looks like this is going to be a big outdoor area.

While I’m dreaming I might as well add an enclosed area that will keep the bugs and other invite guests out when sitting out late nights.

I love sitting on my patio and listen to the birds chirping away. When I have time to sit a while, I look forward to visits from my Hummingbird friends who like to play hide and seek-catch me if you can with me.

I want my outdoor living space to be adorned as beautiful as the inside of my home. Beautiful, flowers to edge the patio that will be a pleasing fragrance and add to the peaceful, resting place. I also want the same beautiful landscape and feeling to extend around the whole house.
