A to Z Blog Challenge 2015 – Zoo Fix

I am going on an adventure to the zoo. The last time I went to the zoo I took my grandchildren on a cold winter night.

The zoo is one of my favorite places to visit. I enjoy looking at the amazing creatures great and small that God created.

It has been six years since my last visit. I took my grandchildren on a cold, snowy winter night to the winter wonderland lighting they do for the Christmas season. In spite of the cold we had a great time—the last time I would take them before I moved away.

Thinking back to my childhood we would go to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, IL when we visited during summer vacation. A friend and me took our daughters to the San Diego Zoo during a visit to California. That zoo was so big that we weren’t able to see all of it. I spent more time at the zoo in Columbus, OH. I had an annual pass.

I love to take pictures of the animals at the zoo and the zoo would be a great place to learn how to use my new camera.

It’s been way too long since my last visit to a zoo. I need a zoo fix.

A to Z Blog Challenge 2015 – Young at Heart

How old are you

Twenty-two, forty-two

Or eighty-two

Does matter to you

What the number says

Or your body agrees

When you are young at heart

It really doesn’t matter

What anyone says

As long as you

Feel young at heart

Gray hair and wrinkles

Should carry no shame

Wear them proudly

Longevity claimed

Young at heart

Right from the start

Is the place to be

Now until eternity

A to Z Blog Challenge 2015 – Xerox

I remember back in the day when copier machines were called Xerox machines. A company called Xerox created the Xerox machine. Were they the only company that made copiers then? I don’t recall.

I remember when other companies started making copiers. They were still called Xerox machines although they didn’t make all of them. Habits are hard to change.

As time went by Xerox was no longer a household or business name. Now there are so many companies producing them.

Today copiers can do more than just make copies. They can scan and send the scanned copy to your email so you can forward it where you want it to go. Some also send and receive fax copies.

Maybe Xerox still makes copiers –I don’t know.

A to Z Blog Challenge 2015 – I Wonder

I wonder what the outcome of the journey will be.

It’s a road never traveled before.

Mountains and valleys—a roller coaster ride.

Full of surprises that can’t be foreseen so planning’s gone by the wayside.

Can’t imagine the outcome. There are too many variables.

The consequence of consistency makes for a dull life.

Gearing up for the unknown, ready to move forward.

I can’t help but wonder.

A to Z Blog Challenge 2015 – Value

What would you do if all your material belongings you own disappeared and after searching high and low you couldn’t locate them?

Have you attached such a great value on the items that you couldn’t get over the lost?

Did you protect your belongings by insuring them? If you did, then everything can be replaced. If you didn’t, it looks like you didn’t think they had any value.

If someone came to your home and liked something you had, could you part with it and bless them with it?

More valuable things are esteeming someone higher than you and wanting to put a smile on their face. How about getting great joy blessing others? These have more value than all the material things you can amass.

Reflect on the value you put on unimportant things and make any changes necessary.

A to Z Blog Challenge – U Words

Unfortunately two days ago I was told I would not be closing on my home yesterday. I had to wait until the buyers turned one piece of paperwork they were missing and the closing wouldn’t be until next Wednesday.

The buyers turned in their paperwork under pressure and I received a call late this morning that the closing was scheduled for today. With that unexpected news I got an email with the Settlement Statement attached. That way I could read it before I showed up at the closing and wouldn’t be taken by surprise with undesirable charges.

I showed up first to the closing and got the signing of many papers underway before buyers arrived.

A new undertaking for me is to be a tenant instead of a homeowner. For a year I will undoubtedly let the apartment management take on the issues I use to be responsible for. I’ve come out from under that responsibility and now I’m a free bird.
