This year I decided to make a flower garden to woo bees and butterflies to join the birds that visit for their daily rations.
Captured A Bird Feeding
Bees are disappearing. That means honey can become scarce or non-existent. I use honey most of the time in my recipes, tea and coffee. So quite naturally I want to do what I can to keep Bees in business short of having beehives.
Butterflies are a wonder to me. I think, how can something that looks like a relative to a worm transform into an amazingly beautiful specimen. Those beautiful, colorful specimens need to take their place in my garden.
I also want to get some different birds other than the regulars to come. Most of the birds are brown ones. Blue, Yellow and Red ones would be a great additions. Let’s not forget Hummingbirds. They are amazing to look at as they flutter in mid-air as they sip on the juice I custom make for them.
The birds that come to my yard now no longer fly away when I go out to my patio to take pictures of them. I’m waiting to take a picture of a Hummingbird in mid-air.
My neighbors have this beautiful bird that sits on a perch on their patio. I snapped a few pictures of him while taking pictures of the one’s in my yard.
Once I get the garden growing and all the critters that I’ve invited start coming, I’ll be a happy camper when I’m sitting in the yard photographing and enjoying them.
Life's Little Surprises 
I get an incredible amount of entertainment, joy and photo opportunities from my bird feeders… well worth the price of sunflower seeds which I buy in 40b bags because it’s cheapest that way. I also put out suet blocks (for woodpeckers) and corn on the cob (for the squirrels). I’m hoping to plant monarda to attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds this summer. I’m considering adding a hummingbird feeder as well. What is your recipe for the humming bird juice? … Wishing you happy fluttering, fun feeding!

Bees. Butterflies. Birds. These are a few of my favorite things.
I must have inherited my love for birds from my grandmother. I just remembered when we would visit her we would feed the birds bread every day. My middle daughter must have gotten the love from me because she has birds like the white one in my blog that squawk louder than she talks when we are on the phone. Thanks for visiting my blog. It is a wonder to see the birds, bees, and butterflies. There is a red tail hawk that sits on my balcony rail some mornings. Quite a treat to see him.
Wow, that’s exciting. I have to get a book so I can learn the different species visiting me.
Be patient, the humming birds will slow down; especially in the heat of a summer in Texas. I started drinking my morning coffee near my humming bird feeder and now they are no longer afraid or me or the camera.
