Little Hidden Details

Today I went to the bank to cash some checks that were made out to me and the bank. When I got there I stood in line and waited my turn to get the checks cashed. Once my turn came the cashier kindly explained to me that I needed to go sign in and see a bank officer to sign and cash the checks but first go sit down and wait. When my turn came and much to my surprise the officer said I needed to open a checking account; the checks would be deposited and the money would be available at midnight or he could sign the checks and I could take the checks to my regular bank to cash. The only problem with that is there is no telling how many days the money would be tied up. I need the money tomorrow not days from now. I have to pay the roofer for replacing my roof because of  hail damage and they want their money when the job is done.

So what did I do? I vented while the nice Bank Officer listened about how their rules didn’t make any sense and how inconvenient it is for me to have to deal with their rules. Then all of a sudden I got a clue. Opening an account would be beneficial to me. I don’t have to keep a certain amount in the account. I don’t have a monthly fee. Plus there are other perks that go along with the account. After we had finished business and I had all my papers in hand the Bank Officer gave me another surprise. I will be getting $50 in my account for opening the checking account.

What little surprises has life given you good or bad?
