In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Futures Past.”
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? How close or far are you from that vision?
When I was four years old I got my first library card. No I didn’t want to be a Librarian. I wanted to become an author writing children’s books.
I wanted to be a famous pianist and play for huge audiences. I even taught myself how to play the kindergarten piano book. Years later I took lessons for a year and participated in a recital. Some times I think about revisiting the piano but right now I have no time.
I got my first camera at a young age and fell in love with photography. I wanted to become a Photo Journalist.
Other thoughts were becoming an elementary school teacher, own a daycare, become an artist and do the artwork for my children’s books.
I did take art (watercolor, acrylic) classes. I was told by the instructor that my artwork was as good as an artist from our area. I’ve sold a few pieces.
None of my dreams became a career for me. Some became hobbies. Others were passing thoughts. Becoming a world renown photo journalist has been and still is my greatest desire that I’m working on.
Working in finance was not on my radar but it was on God’s for me and I spent many years in that field and also part-time now. In that field I’ve been truly blessed.
