Dessert from the Amateur Chef

Earlier today I created a delicious dish that was the main part of my dinner menu. I made it up as I went along combining rainbow chard with beef brats. Baked sweet potato fries was added to the menu. I didn’t make the corn muffins.

My sweet tooth started kicking up so I decided to make dessert. A simple dessert came to mind. It was one that I’ve only baked once. There was no recipe in my stash so to the internet I went and found an easy one. I had everything in the house so I got busy and the Madeleine’s were in the oven in less than fifteen minutes. So in about twenty-nine minutes I had great tasting little cakes. This is a great dessert if you have company coming.

Have you great cooks made Madeleine’s before?

If you haven’t you might want to try them.

It’s In His Kiss

I’m a fan of Hallmark Chick Flicks. When they come on I grab my tissues, beverage and snacks. I find a comfortable spot and nestle in. I don’t answer the phone or go potty for fear of missing something.

I’ve realized there is a consistency in all the flicks. At the end there is a kiss. Could it be the kiss is sealing the deal—proving the person’s love? Could be. Every time there is a kiss at the end I can hear the song “It’s In His Kiss” play in my mind. Some times the song needs to say “It’s In Her Kiss” because the woman is initiating the kiss.

I give them permission to kiss all they want. I will continue to watch the Chick Flicks till they quit showing them. After all it is my entertainment.

Is there any Hallmark Chick Flick Fans out there?

Instagram

I have an Instagram account. I’ve had it since last year. I don’t know what to do with it.

Instagram doesn’t come with instructions and that puts me at a disadvantage. I pushed all the buttons and they didn’t give me a clue. So I left it alone. When I thought about using this for letter I, I revisited Instagram and I’m no more informed than before.

One thing I saw this time is I have people following me. How did I get followers? I never told anyone I was on Instagram. I bet they are wondering why I haven’t posted anything. The reason is I don’t know how. If I can get some instructions I might use it. I wonder if there is an Instagram School?

Until then that little camera will just hang out with the rest of my apps.

Do you use Instagram?

Guitar Man

The strumming of the strings

Comes from love

A velvet sound from above

Guitar Man has a song to play

Gently caresses and holds her tight

With love divine and all his might

She reciprocates with a heavenly sound

Responding to his gentle touch

Vibrates and causes a delightful rush

A new song is created

Through soft steady streams

Fingers precise-touches every string

Smiling as each one rings

Creating musical delight

He casts his eye, gives a little smile

Strums and strums

The magical tune

This love affair

Will never cease

Guitar Man strums his love-his guitar

Pecking, Squawking, There’s a Brawl Going On

There’s a fight in my yard.  No referee to be found. A brawl—it must be a brawl. Wings flapping frantically, squawking and pecking.  Ducking and dodging, perch dives. I should be selling tickets for this event. And the winner is…

A year ago I bought my first bird feeder to draw wild birds to my yard. This year I added a couple more feeders including a Hummingbird feeder.

One of the feeders has two perches. That doesn’t work when there are four or more birds fighting for their turn.

The other feeder’s perch can accommodate at least six birds. Sometimes that doesn’t work either.

The bigger feeder has different food in it. I’ve come to the conclusion the birds like the food in the little feeder better. They will eat the other food but prefer what’s in the little feeder. It’s like preferring to eat a nice steak dinner as opposed to going to a fast food joint.

I filled all of them this morning and the little one is already empty. So what are they fighting for? I wish I knew. They could stop fighting and fly over to the other one and have a satisfying meal.

I don’t want a fast food meal instead of a steak dinner.

In order to calm the brawlers down I’m going to buy a bigger feeder with four to six perches for the preferred food. Little do they know but they will have to eat the three bags of food until it’s gone.

No brawlers allowed.

In my last blog I wrote about a story I’m writing.

My friend, an accomplished author who knows the ins and outs of writing asked me to send the first five pages to her. Today I received her critique. She gave me a lot of great advise on how I can make a better story.

I’m excited because she didn’t say my story was a hopeless mess that needs to be trashed. She gave me hope.

Tomorrow I will devote my evening to making the corrections and continue enlarging the story. Even if this story goes nowhere I’m happy I’m doing something I was afraid to do. That fear is gone and I’m going full steam ahead until it is complete. Then I will start on the next one.

Is there a best seller coming. Stay tuned.

Shoe Paradise–OH Happy Day

I needed a trip to paradise-shoe paradise that is.

Today I was going to paradise. I had a coupon to paradise. I checked the date and it hadn’t expired.

Paradise hadn’t been open long when I arrived. Only a few people were in the store—mainly employees. That was good for me because I felt like I was having a private showing.

I had in my mind a shoe I wanted to purchase but upon trying them on they were not for me. That ended the plan to run in, buy that shoe and run out.

I reverted back to my old way of shopping. Isle by isle I check out and tried on many shoes. Some I liked but many were not what I was looking for. I tried on many I would never buy. Since I was in paradise I decided to pretend I was a glamorous fashionista looking for an elegant pair of shoes to go with my to die for gown to wear to the ball. Better than a Cinderella ball.

After trying on many shoes and liking few I settled on a pair that wasn’t exciting at all. They fit and were comfortable. I held on to them but kept on looking. I backtracked to where I first started my journey because I needed to make sure I didn’t miss any shoes I might be interested in.

When I was on the last row as I was making my way to pay for the shoes in hand I found a pair of sandals I missed. I tried them on and I was in love. They are strappy flats that felt like they’re made for my feet and are a color I don’t own. They will go with everything.

Paradise was good to me today.

Have you had a paradise adventure?
