Today I needed to take a trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a few needed items. In order to miss a lot of people I decided to arrive later to avoid a possible crowd of people
When I arrived at Wal-Mart I found a lot of people there. If I didn’t know any better I would have thought it was either Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve. It was neither of those holidays. The crowd was buying Halloween costumes and goodies for school parties and trick or treaters visiting homes tomorrow.
I remember when Halloween wasn’t such a big deal years ago. As years have gone by it has crept up in competition with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Stores go all out with the decorations now when the only thing they use to do was increase their stock of candy.
Maybe it’s because of all the gory, scary movies that have been produced in recent years.
What is your take on the explosion of Halloween?
I dont decorate much for Halloween. I put out pumpkins n I have a few Halloween themed items but I try to stay with a fall decor. I put it up mid October n it looks good through thanksgiving. Easy decorating. Im cross stitching a scarecrow right now thats beautiful. I’ll share it soon.
As circumstances have it I’m never home. I don’t celebrate it and haven’t for years. I’ve watched Halloween become bigger every year. I can’t wait to see your scarecrow. I’ve tried my hand at cross stitching-I did an owl years ago. Maybe i’ll look for it and share it. Thanks for visiting. Blessings.
I don’t know if its because of films this is a big affair but I believe companies are targeting these festivals and bringing out new decorations to allure audience.Kids are mostly interested in such stuff. Then there is also the ‘Harry Potter mania’ 🙂 Thanks for stopping by my blogs… 😀
You’re welcome.
You’re also correct about Halloween.
I know in France we are now invaded by this event that is not or culture. So sad 😦
I’m just now finding your comment-sorry. It is indeed a sad state of affairs. Will people ever learn. Blessings.
